Experts: military balance between Armenia, Azerbaijan unchanged![]() May 2, 2011 - 14:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Military psychologist David Jamalyan said the military balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains unchanged. “A successful blitzkrieg is possible only if one of the parties possesses a military superiority. Today Azerbaijan lacks such superiority over Armenia,” Jamalyan told a press conference in Yerevan. “On the contrary, Armenia has a considerable superiority in some weapons, specifically in the air defense system,” he said. Thus, according to Jamalyan, provocations at the line of contact will continue, but the possibility of resumption of hostilities has significantly lessened. Head of the political studies department at the Caucasus Institute, political analyst Sergey Minasyan said for his part that Azerbaijan is well aware of the high price it will have to pay for a new war. “The balance of military forces has not changed. But the Armenian armed forces exceed those of Azerbaijan from the qualitative perspective,” Minasyan stated. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
