Justice Minister refrains from announcing Mikaelyan, Pashinyan release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian leader’s suggestions on reforms in justice system and deeper investigation into March 1-2, 2008 events are being discussed, Armenian Minister of Justice stated.

As Hrayr Tovmasyan stated at a parliament-hosted news conference, media keeps giving different dates for liberation of opposition supporters Sasun Mikaelyan and Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan. “The issue is in progress,” the Minister said.

In April 2011, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan convened a session covering reforms in legal sector. The President touched upon legal cases on March 2008 events, assigning the officials in charge to find new and more effective ways to discover the events in question.

Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan and former MP Sasun Mikaelyan detained on March 1 case will be pardoned on May 28, the first Armenian Republic independence proclamation day, Hraparak newspaper reported.
