UC Davis symposium to feature reports on children death in genocidesMay 14, 2011 - 10:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 17, UC Davis Human Rights Initiative Spring Symposium will feature presentations by experts in the subject of transferring children during conflict. The event will take place from 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Andrews Conference Room, 2203 Social Sciences and Humanities. In the first of two sessions, Melanie Tanielian, UC Berkeley History Department, "Protecting the Innocent: Humanitarian Child Transfer after the Adana Massacre, 1909"; Diane Wolf, Sociology professor, UC Davis, will present: "My War began After the War: Hidden Jewish Children and Family Reunification in the Nederlands.” For the second session, Keith David Watenpaugh, UC Davis religious studies professor, will present "The Social Death of Children in the Armenian Genocide"; and Tara Zahra, history professor at the University of Chicago, "Saving the Children? Ethnic Cleansing, Children and Humanitarianism in Twentieth Century Europe." ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
