Expert: technology development increases risk of mankind extinction

PanARMENIAN.Net - The development of technologies increases the risk of mankind extinction, head of Armenian Astronomical Society said.

According to Areg Mikayelyan, the number of different disasters increased with the development of technologies. “Besides, we should note that today scientists aim to create an artificial intellect, which can lead to undesirable consequences,” he told a press conference in Yerevan.

“If there is a possibility to develop an artificial intellect in robots, they may stop obeying to humans, what will lead to a situation when man submits to robot,” Mikayelyan remarked.

As another threat to mankind, he mentioned the existence of enormous quantity of nuclear weapons in different countries of the world, which, according to him, could eliminate the Earth 100 times. “I think that a man himself doesn’t recognize what he creates,” Mikayelyan said.
