RPA: should Azerbaijan unleash war, it will lose territories

PanARMENIAN.Net - Spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, member of the RA National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov said Azerbaijan will not unleash a new war against Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia.

“Should Azerbaijan do so, it will be have to lose territories,” he stated.

“Azerbaijan always speaks about a new war but will never venture it, threatening just being a part of the Azerbaijani propaganda,” Sharmazanov noted.

He recalled that all OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair countries reject a military resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

Besides, as part of his state visit to Armenia, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent a clear message concerning how Russia, Armenia’s strategic ally, will act in case of Azerbaijan’s military aggression

“Protocol #5 signed between Armenia and Russia in August 2010 clearly reads that Russia is a guarantor of Armenia’s security. And if earlier the Russian base had been protecting the Armenian-Russian border, currently there is a task of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border protection as well, under the protocol,” Sharmazanov concluded.
