U.S. to host next G8 summit in 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - The next G8 summit is due in 2012 in US, a declaration adopted based on Deauville-hosted summit results said.

The Group of Eight (G8) is a forum, created by France in 1975, for the governments of six major economies: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 1976, Canada joined the group. In 1997, the group added Russia. In addition, the European Union is represented within the G8, but cannot host or chair.

The presidency of the group rotates annually among the member countries, with each new term beginning on 1 January of the year. The annual G8 leaders summit is attended by eight of the world's most powerful heads of government. The summit focuses on issues of mutual or global concern. -DJ- U.S. to host next G8 summit in 2012
