ANC mobilizes means of transport to help its supporters arrive in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Spokesman for the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Arman Musinyan said residents of Armenia’s regions permanently face transport problems on days of ANC rallies in Yerevan.

“For example, the public transport in Abovian will stop operating two hours prior to the rally launch,” Musinyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. To solve the problem, ANC mobilizes means of transport to facilitate its supporters’ arrival in the Armenian capital.

It was reported earlier that opposition supporters residing in Vanadzor say they cannot arrive in Yerevan to participate in the ANC rally. Helsinki Citizens' Civil Assembly Vanadzor Office told PanARMENIAN.Net in a letter that no minibuses, which depart for Yerevan daily, are available today at the bus station of Vanadzor, the third largest town of Armenia.

Meanwhile, an officer of the RA Police told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that all roads leading to Yerevan are open, thus people should not face problems with arrival in the capital.

Liberty Square of Yerevan will host a rally of the opposition Armenian National Congress on May 31, 07:00pm local time. It is expected that former member of the Armenian parliament Sasun Mikaelyan and editor-in-chief of opposition Haykakan Zhamanak paper Nikol Pashinyan, who have been released under the recent amnesty, will participate in the rally for the first time since 2008.

Pashinyan and Mikaelyan had been convicted in the March 2008 case, when around 200 people were injured, 10 people were killed, and over 100 people were arrested.
