Hrair Simonian finishes 2nd at ICC-organized blitz open

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Hrair Simonian made it to the finals of the blitz open organized by Internet Chess Club (ICC), to end his match against the well-known American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura in a 3:3 tie.

Due to a tiebreaker, Nakamura won 4,5:3,5, with a second prize to go to Simonian.

Current Champion of Armenia, grandmaster Robert Hovhannisyan also had a successful performance, however, losing to Nakamura in semifinals.

Another Armenian representative, international master Levon Altounian entered the top eights of the championship.

Grandmaster Sergei Movsesian scored 7,5 points out of 9 to come 2nd in the rapid chess open held in Hustopece, Czech Republic. Movsesian was only half a point behind the winner, Czech grandmaster Viktor Laznicka, armchess.am reported.
