Significant inflow of foreign tourists observed over 10 years in Armenia![]() PanARMENIAN.Net - Significant inflow of foreign tourists to Armenia has been observed in 2001, with the number of tourists stably growing over the last 10 years (with the exclusion of year 2009). At news conference in Yerevan, the head of Armenian Hotels Association Hakob Hakobyan listed tourists from Russia, Iran, U.S. and European states as those most frequently visiting Armenia. The rector of Armenian Institute of Tourism, chairman of Armenian Union of Tour Operators Robert Minasyan in turn, noted, “Armenia is a hospitable country; yet, unfortunately, we lack in relevant infrastructures to provide services on a high scale,” he noted. He further stressed the necessity of developing the inbound tourism, also calling attention to the problem with roads. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
