Russian Orthodox Church to arrange Sheikh ul-Islam's visit to Armenia![]() June 17, 2011 - 19:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Orthodox Church is taking preparations to arrange the visit of Allahshukur Pashazade, Sheikh ul-Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus to Armenia, the director of the Center for Geography of Religions Roman Silantyev stated. As Silantyev noted, the visit is planned within the framework of Yerevan-hosted CIS interreligious council panel due November 28. Previously, All Armenian Catholicos Karekin II paid a visit to Baku. According to Silantyev, mutual visits between the Sheikh ul-Islam and the Catholicos will promote a new stage in Karabakh conflict settlement. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
