Ter-Petrossian: Armenia-Turkey border opening to follow Karabakh settlementJune 23, 2011 - 15:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s development perspectives seem slim without the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and opening of borders with Turkey, according to the first Armenian President, Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader. As Levon Ter-Petrossian noted in an interview with Moskovskie Novosti (Moscow News) newspaper, commenting on Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s Armenia-Turkey rapprochement policy, “the President’s policy was correct. The issue should be always kept on agenda.” According to ANC leader, before 1992, “Armenia and Turkey were ready to establish diplomatic ties, yet the process hit a deadlock when Armenian forces liberated Kelbajar region.” “Turks won’t agree to resume rapprochement process until the Karabakh conflict is resolved. Armenia-Turkey border will be opened the next day after the conflict settlement. There are no other options,” Ter-Petrossian stated.
