Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan issue statement to stress rights for repatriation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The convention of Armenian refugees form Azerbaijan issued a statement, stressing their rights for repatriation.

According to the statement, international mediators’ suggesting return of part of the refugees or displaced persons back to their homes, while refusing to repatriate the other part are discriminatory and unacceptable.

“OSCE Minsk Group policy, forbidding settlement on the territories under NKR jurisdiction further exacerbated humanitarian situation in the region, triggering political speculation and shameless manipulation of the fates of 1992-1994 armed conflict victims on one hand, and ignoring the rights of the population which witnessed a conflict in the same period, as well as 1988-1992, on the other hand,” the statement said.

The convention resolved struggle towards observation of the right of the refugees for repatriation, addressing Stepanakert authorities with a request to assist in housing the refugees on the territories under NKR control.

The convention also demands to address UN Commission with a request to assist in settlement and life support of refugees and displaced persons.

The statement is submitted to representation of Karabakh, Embassies of France, U.S., Russia Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan as well as UN Mission.
