Kazan talks on Karabakh over![]() June 24, 2011 - 21:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The trilateral meeting between President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev has been over. Besides the three countries Presidents, the meeting on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement also hosted Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandian, Elmar Mamedyarov, Sergey Lavrov as well as Presidents’ Assistants. Nothing is informed on whether the parties are going to comment on results of the trilateral Presidential meeting in Kazan. ![]() ![]() The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
