Incompatibility of positions hinders Karabakh settlement - expert![]() June 28, 2011 - 15:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The main obstacle for resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is the incompatibility of positions of Armenia and Azerbaijan, a Russian political analyst said. “This is why the mediators hit against a wall of incomprehension,” director of the Institute of Caspian Cooperation Sergei Mikheev said during Yerevan-Moscow TV space bridge. He also noted that third countries, specifically the United States will try to take advantage of the situation. Despite optimistic forecasts and encouragement, the anticipated June 24 meeting ended in a statement saying that the heads of state “noted the reaching of mutual understanding on a number of questions, whose resolution helps create conditions to approve the basic principles." The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan praised the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries for their continuous attention to the problem and once again thanked Russian President for his personal endeavors to bring the positions of the conflicting sides closer. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
