ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT WILL START DISCUSSING THE PROJECT OF CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS NEXT SPRING

PanARMENIAN.Net - 23.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The project of constitutional amendments will be ready on December 16, said today the chairman of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunian at a press conference in Yerevan.

He noted that the National Assembly of Armenia will start the discussion of the project in March 2001, and it may be submitted to national referendum next autumn.

The amendments concern the reduction of the President's power. As Mr. Harutyunian said, the amendments will particularly touch upon the President's exclusive right to dismiss the National Assembly. -0-
