Expert: Azerbaijan wants stronger U.S. role in Karabakh process

PanARMENIAN.Net - By toughening its stand and delaying the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process with new demands, Azerbaijan tries to obtain concessions from Armenia or transference of the chief mediatory mission from Russia to U.S., according to political expert Yervand Bozoyan.

“Some American experts expressed opinion that fundamental principles of Karabakh conflict settlement are not efficient, and a new communication map is needed for the resolution,” Bozoyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He said that Azerbaijan hopes that the new communication map will not comprise mentioning the necessity of self-determination referendum in NKR, and will envisage more serious concessions on the Armenian side.

Besides, the political analyst noted that Armenia does not have concession variants, as we are in a situation when concessions may threaten security. He added that Armenia will never agree to sign any document which may endanger Nagorno Karabakh safety.
