Soares to visit South Caucasus in fall as OSCE PA President’s Special Representative![]() July 11, 2011 - 21:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Joao Soares will visit the region as OSCE PA President’s Special Representative for South Caucasus in September 2011. Results of Joao Soares’s visit to the region will help him prepare a report on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. The Honorary Chairman of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Portuguese parliamentarian Joao Soares was appointed to the post of OSCE PA President’s Special Representative in South Caucasus on Sunday. As the head of the Armenian delegation to OSCE PA, Aram Safaryan told a news conference on July 8, “Today, OSCE PA President Petros Efthymiou met with Armenian and Azerbaijani delegates to coordinate the candidature of OSCE PA President’s Special Representative in South Caucasus. Mr. Soares, well known both in Armenia and Azerbaijan was chosen to fill the vacant position.” Goran Lenmarker completed his mission as OSCE PA President’s Special Representative for Nagorno Karabakh and Georgia last year, when he was not re-elected at Parliamentary elections in Sweden in Sept. 2010. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
