Orange foundation’s pilot eye project launches in Armenia![]() July 13, 2011 - 15:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 13, Orange foundation jointly with the Armenian Eye Care Project (AECP), announced a charitable program. Orange foundation allotted AMD 9 mln for examination, free eye test, as well as treatment of residents in need of social support in Shirak province, in August – September 2011. AECP country director for Armenia Nune Yeghiazaryan stated that, within the frames of the program, it is planned to examine 3000 adults, 1200 children, to carry out some 250 operations, including laser, as well as to provide 1200 glasses. Starting August 16, a group of 7 doctors from mobile eye clinic within AECP will stop at 3 provincial centers of Armenia, namely Maralik, Artik and Akhuryan. This is the fourth AECP’s charitable action in Armenia. “We are greatly impressed with professionalism of AECP and are ready to cooperate. Everybody having problems with eyes are in the spotlight of Orange foundation, and not only in Armenia, but also in those countries where Orange foundation operates,” said Director General of Orange Armenia Company Bruno Duthoit. According to AECP founder Roger Ohanesian, since 2002, mobile eye hospital has been carrying out similar projects in Armenia and NKR. Orange Armenia Company press service Lilit Martirosyan stated that implementation of this project in Shirak is conditioned by the fact that Orange never carried out such programs in this province. Orange foundation has been operating in Armenia since April 2011, and since 1987 in the world. At present the foundation supports implementation of international companies’ and local NGOs’ programs in more than 30 countries of Europe, Middle East and Africa. AECP was founded in 1992 in the United States and for almost 20 years it has been fighting against acquired blindness in Armenia. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
