283 thousand passengers used services of SCR in the first half of 2011July 21, 2011 - 14:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - 283,3 thousand passengers used services of “South Caucasian Railways” (SCR) in the first half of 2011, that is 29,4% lower as compared to 2010 index. At the same time, the international passengers’ transport increased by 29,7% as compared to January-June 2010, amounting to 13,1 thous., which is 61,7% exceeds the scheduled rate, according to the latest data, in the first half of 2011. The main reason of decrease as against last year similar period is 30,9% reduction in number of local passengers’ transport, totaling 270 thous. passengers, that is 29,2% lower than the scheduled rate in the first half of 2011. Decrease of local passengers’ transport is conditioned by cancellation of two trains at the beginning of 2011 in direction of Armavir and Ararat. By request of local communities leaders, presently, it was decided to revive the traffic that will have positive effect on dynamics of passengers transport at SCR.
