Sevana Lich international chess tournament kicks off in Martuni, ArmeniaJuly 23, 2011 - 12:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 22, Sevana Lich (Lake of Sevan) round robin chess tournament launched in Martuni province of Armenia, with 10 grandmasters participating.At the tournament, Armenia is represented by 2010 tournament winner Arman Pashikyan, Tigran Petrosian, Zaven Andriasian, Hrant Melkonyan, Avetik Grigoryan and Samvel Ter-Sahakyan. Goergia’s Baadur Jobava is the highest ranked player in the tournament, followed by Sergei Zhigalko (Belrarus) and Ildar Khairullin (Russia). In the first round of the championship, the participants gained 0,5 points each. The 2nd tour is due July 23, with the tournament to end July 30.
