Citizen of Armenia, supposedly Azeri spy, detained on Armenian- Georgian borderJuly 23, 2011 - 15:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 23, RA National Security Services detained a citizen of Armenia, Yerevan resident a 31-year old Karen Mehrabyan while attempting to cross the Armenian-Georgian border near Bavra, who is suspected in contact with special services of Azerbaijan. As the National Security Services’ press office told PanARMENIAN.Net Mehrabyan has been under Security Services’ observation for a long time, within which the Services fixed facts of collection, keeping and transmittance of information to Azerbaijan by Mehrabyan regarding military potential of Karabakh. In the process of information collection, Mehrabyan also tried to enroll NKR citizens and military men from Armenian Defense Ministry. Armenian National Security Services possesses evidences about enrolment and use of Mehrabyan by Azeri special services in Turkey. A suit is filed on the point 1 of the article 299 criminal code of Armenia (treason), investigation is in progress.
