Rafik Manukyan wins gold at Junior World Greco-Roman Championships![]() July 27, 2011 - 11:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Junior World Championships is under way in Bucharest, Romania, July 26-31. The first day of tournament was successful for Armenia Greco-Roman team. Two of four sportsmen won medals. Rafik Manukyan (74 kg) won Gold medal after 4 fights, defeating Kiro Russo (Italy), Michael Wagner (Austria), Ismail Kochaslan (Turkey) and Markin Kulinich (Poland). In final the Armenian wrestler rivaled Zurabi Datunashvili (Georgia) who was beaten by Manukyan in three periods, the score was 5:3. Another representative of Armenian team Rudik Mkrtchyan (50 kg) won bronze. On July 27, the following Armenian sportsmen are expected to enter the contest: Narek Khachatryan (55kg), Hayk Arshakyan (66kg), Gevorg Manukyan (84kg) and Vachik Yeghiazaryan (120kg). ![]() ![]() Armenia’s Narek Manasyan (92kg) won Armenia’s second silver medal at the European Boxing Championships 2024 on April 28.
