Moscow chooses candidate for South Ossetia presidential postAugust 18, 2011 - 13:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Moscow endorses the nomination of Anatoly Bibilov for the post of South Ossetia’s President, Kommersant daily reports. Currently, the designation is being considered by President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Besides Bilbilov, the Kremlin mulled the candidacies of Zurab Kokoyev, the head of Unity ruling party, and Dmitry Medoyev’s, South Ossetia’s ambassador to Russia. According to Kommersant, initially, Moscow was going to support any candidacy proposed by late President Eduard Kokoyty but then decided to choose its own candidate. The decision was allegedly conditioned by Moscow’s discontent with the misuse of funds for the reconstruction of the breakaway republic after the 2008 war, for which Russia spent about 30 billion rubles.
