Minister: Armenia seeks to contribute to international community securityAugust 30, 2011 - 11:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Presently the armed forces of Armenia face two tasks: fostering national security and enlarging participation of the country in international security efforts, RA Defense Minister said. Addressing the servicemen in a military unit in Noemberyan, a borderline town of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, stated that Armenia, being a part of the international community, seeks to contribute to its security. He noted that RA peacekeeping forces carry out missions in Kosovo and Iraq. “More than that, presently Armenian peacekeepers are in the most dangerous zone, in Afghanistan, where they surprised German officers with their training,” he said. “Defending their borders Armenian military perform operations no inferior than those peacekeepers perform in Afghanistan,” he added. The Minister Ohanyan also noted that the Ministry seeks to make army possibly transparent to the public.
