U.S. warns of veto on Palestine independence UN bid![]() September 9, 2011 - 11:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The United States warned it will veto Palestinian bid for independence if it comes on vote in the UN Security Council. “It should not come as a shock to anyone that the U.S. opposes a move in New York by the Palestinians to try to establish a state that can only be achieved through negotiations. So yes, if something comes to a vote in the UN Security Council, the U.S. will veto,” State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said. “I think the President’s been clear all along that he opposes this, and had also made clear that the U.S. would oppose such a move firmly in the UN,” she said. “There could be tensions on the ground. There are certainly going to be tensions in New York, which we want to avoid. We want to get these parties back to the table.” ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
