ArmenTel expands trunk channelsSeptember 16, 2011 - 11:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - ArmenTel announces the expansion of foreign channels of connection through Level 3 Communications, Inc company, long-distance network provider. The outer main goes to the north through Georgia’s territory. The new channel with throughput capacity to 10Gb/s connects to the network of Level 3 Communications operator in Frankfurt. “The new connection will enable ArmenTel to increase reliability and speed of access to Internet foreign resources, will raise the capacity and level of independence of our infrastructures, and will serve as basis for new offers in the field,” Igor Klimko, ArmenTel Director General noted. In late 2010, ArmenTel was the first operator providing telecommunication services in Armenia, to connect to European internet backbone via cable system “Caucasus Cable System”. The main lines of the company go through neighboring Georgia and Iran. Level 3 Communications is one of the greatest international telecommunication operators of first level (Tier 1). The company exploits the biggest networks of long-distance channels of data transfer in the world, which spans over 85 thousand km. The company’s network engulfs the whole continental part of the U.S. and most part of Western Europe. The operator also has 100Gb line of channels of data transfer through the Atlantic, joining the two parts of the network.
