Science-related issues discussed in Armenian parliamentSeptember 17, 2011 - 09:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 16, Artak Davtyan, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, met with the members of Facebook group “We Demand Increase in Financing of Science”. As the group member, Armenian Academic Association (Armacad) founder Khachik Gevorgyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Mr. Davtyan addressed every issue in a 14-point package of suggestions earlier submitted by the group. “Active discussions followed, focusing on increase of post-graduate courses, rising scholarship, and possible allocation of 30% Armenia's state budget to development of science,” he said. According to Davtyan, institution of scientific awards named after famous Armenian scholars is planned in near future.
