US HOUSE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE IS SET TO VOTE ON THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION ON SEPTEMBER 26

PanARMENIAN.Net - 23.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The full U.S. House International Relations Committee is set to vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.398) on September 26.

After lengthy debate, the resolution was adopted, on September 21st, by voice vote in the Subcommittee on International Operations and Human Rights. H.Res.398 affirms the United States record on the Armenian Genocide and 1) Calls upon the President to ensure that U.S. diplomats dealing with human rights are educated about the Armenian Genocide, and 2) Urges the President to properly characterize the Armenian Genocide as genocide in the President's annual April 24th address.

A favorable vote in Committee will help move H. Res. 398 to the House floor for a vote. -0-
