Nobel physics prize winner Zhores Alferov to visit Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The winner of 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics, the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Zhores Alferov will visit Armenia.

At October 10 panel sitting of Armenian National Academy of Sciences (NAS), Mr. Alferov will be awarded with the title of NAS Honorary Academician.

At October 11 Ashtarak-hosted conference on laser physics, the scientist will deliver a report, to be later followed by a lecture titled “21st Century Semiconductor Revolution”.

Zhores Alferov (born March 15, 1930) is a Soviet and Russian physicist and academic who contributed significantly to the creation of modern heterostructure physics and electronics. He is an inventor of the heterotransistor and the winner of 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics.
