ARMENIAN ENERGY MINISTER CALLED THE CONSTRUCTION OF IRAN-ARMENIAN GAS PIPELINE IMPORTANT AND STRATEGIC

PanARMENIAN.Net - 31.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The construction of Iran-Armenia pipeline is an important and strategic task for Yerevan, declared at the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi Armenian Energy Minister Karen Galustian, who is on a visit in Tehran.

K. Galustian said that Armenian authorities are actively working on the realization of this project, which will meet the energy needs of Armenia, reports IRNA. Armenian Energy Minister said Europe supports this project and thinks that this pipeline may be continued in European direction.

Karen Galustian expressed satisfaction over bilateral cooperation with Iran in all areas and noted the necessity to expand the ties between the two countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said that the gas pipeline project is a "suitable axis connecting north and south'. He also stressed bolstering of cooperation in transit matters between the two countries.

Kharrazi stressed on continued tripartite cooperation among Iran, Armenia and Greece and termed relations between Iran, Armenia and Russia as being very cordial. -0-
