Matthew Bryza urges to speed up Karabakh settlement![]() October 21, 2011 - 15:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are arriving in the region at the beginning of the next week. He said they will mull the basic principles and a way to address the parties' concerns voiced at the Kazan meeting. "The OSCE Minsk Group is looking for ways to sustain momentum and energize Karabakh settlement process." he said on Friday, Oct 21 in Baku. Regarding the U.S. meditation, he said Deputy Secretary of State William Burns's visit is an evidence of U.S. attempts to move the Minsk Process forward. "Our position is that it is important to finalize the basic principles and then move on to negotiations immediately on the final peace agreement," he said. "Clearly, military settlement to the conflict is unacceptable as well as the status quo. So we need to accelerate the negotiations," Trend News quoted him as saying. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
