Renewed war isn’t solution to Karabakh issue, Armenian President says![]() October 24, 2011 - 21:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is confident that a renewed war is not a solution to Karabakh issue; the conflict leads to instability and tension, increasing differences, stirring up national and religious issues, posing danger to safety of other states, Armenian President stated. As Serzh Sargsyan noted in his October 24 statement at Lomonosov Moscow State University, over 20 years ago, people of Nagorno Karabakh fulfilled their right for freedom and independence, which they protected in unequal war, started by Azerbaijan. “Over the last years, OSCE Minks Group took great efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of conflict. I’d like to express gratitude to Dmitry Medvedev who for many years worked towards progress in Karabakh settlement,” Armenian leader said. “Armenia’s position in supporting rapid and peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict remains unchanged,” the President concluded. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
