As Davit Harutyunyan told journalists, commenting on the possibility for him to replace Hovik Abrahamyan as parliament speaker, no discussions as to candidates for the post were held, nor does he have any personal preferences on the issue. Harutyunyan ascribed Abrahamyan’s decision to resign by the latter’s wish to fully focus on election campaign, considering the heated struggle ahead. In conclusion, Harutyunyan urged against drawing parallels between recent resignations, there being “no link between resignation of the speaker and Police Chief.” The politician refused to give any forecasts as to possibility of further resignations.
