Ervand Abrahamian’s book on Iranian history released

PanARMENIAN.Net - "A History of Modern Iran", a book by Ervand Abrahamian, has been released in Iran.

In a reappraisal of Iran's modern history, Abrahamian traces its journey across the twentieth century, through the discovery of oil, imperial interventions, the rule of the Pahlavis and, in 1979, revolution and the birth of the Islamic Republic.

Ervand Abrahamian (born 1940) is a historian of Middle Eastern and particularly Iranian history.

An Armenian born in Iran and raised in England, he received his M.A. at Oxford University and his Ph.D. at Columbia University. He teaches at the City University of New York (CUNY) where he is Distinguished Professor of History at Baruch College and the CUNY Graduate Center. He has taught at Princeton University, New York University and Oxford University. He is currently working on a book about the 1953 Iranian coup d'état for Cambridge University Press.

He has authored several books about Iran and his "Iran Between Two Revolutions" has been reprinted several times in Iran.

"A History of Modern Iran" has been published by Dat publications in 333 pages, Iran Book News Agency reported.
