OSCE Minsk Group French co-chair might be replaced – MEP

PanARMENIAN.Net - With Karabakh conflict destabilizing the region, EU considers more significant involvement to increase the settlement process effectiveness, according to a member of European Parliament.

As Kristian Vigenin told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, “seeing as OSCE MG efforts have been leading to poor results for quite a long period, the EP initiated discussion on the issue, one of the suggestions being to replace the OSCE MG French co-chair with the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy Catherine Ashton.”

“It’s only one of the options discussed, however, it’s important to involve new players into the settlement,” Vigenin said.

In conclusion, the MEP stressed the will of conflicting parties as a key factor in achieving a resolution. Vigenin noted a compromise as the only option, stressing unacceptability of a military solution.
