THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE OF ARMENIA AND THE MISSION OF RED CROSS WILL CREATE A JOINT COMMISSION FOR QUESTIONS OF WAR CAPTIVES AND THE MISSING

With the aim of increasing the activity and effectiveness of the works directed to the search of war captives and the missing, the Armenian mission of the International Committee of Red Cross and the Ministry of Defense of Armenia are going to create a common commission.

As was informed to MEDIAMAX in the press office of the president of Armenia, the head of the Armenian mission of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), Liz Beudrou said this today at the meeting with the president of Armenia Robert Kocharian.

The interlocutors also discussed questions touching upon the increase of effectiveness of the activity of the Red Cross in Armenia and the program the organization is about to realize. The readiness to continue the cooperation was mutually stressed during the meeting.

The president of the republic drew the attention of the head of the Armenian mission of ICRC on the realization of tasks in the sphere of public health, stressing the importance of the increase of effectiveness of the fight against tuberculosis.

Highly assessing the programs being realized by Red Cross, Robert Kocharian expressed hope that the cooperation and the formed good traditions will be continued successfully in the future as well. -0-
