  Armenian govt chooses compulsory treatment over castration as sexual abuse punishment December 1, 2011 - 12:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A resolution envisaging compulsory treatments for those accused of sexual abuse was adopted at Dec 1 government sitting. Earlier, an independent MP Victor Dallakyan has drafted amendments to Article 142 of the criminal code that would stipulate either chemical castration or up to 10 years in prison as a punishment for convictions on sexual abuse of minors instead of a the law specifying a maximum of three years in prison and an AMD 7 million ($18,000) fine as punishment. According to Armenian Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan, the resolution is an amendment to criminal code, stipulating for a compulsory treatment for the convicted until the latter proves fully convalesced.
