Armenian parliament passes controversial environment bill![]() December 5, 2011 - 13:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Despite opposition from Heritage party, the Armenian National Assembly passed a controversial bill to introduce amendments to the law on environmental impact expertise. The bill was adopted with 63 votes in favor, 7 against and 2 abstentions. By request of Heritage parliamentary group leader Stepan Safaryan, a 20-minite pause was made during the discussion for him to speak with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan on the phone. Heritage’s proposal to postpone the hearing was rejected. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
