OSCE Secretary General supports changes to Armenia’s electoral code![]() December 7, 2011 - 11:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - During the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on the sidelines of OSCE Ministerial Council sitting, director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Janez Lenarcic expressed hope for organisation of fair and transparent parliamentary election in Armenia, with changes to the electoral code contributing to the process. OSCE Secretary General, Ambassador Lamberto Zannier also expressed support to changes introduced to the electoral code at the meeting with Nalbandian, with the parties further focusing on formation of mechanism to investigate incidents at contact line. The Foreign Minister also met EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Ambassador Philippe Lefort and Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton to discuss Karabakh settlement. At the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to contribute to the efforts of OSCE Minsk Group in solution of the conflict, Armenian Foreign Ministry press service reported. Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. Partner news |
