Turkish media spread false reports on Armenian Genocide bill

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish media outlets spread false information on adoption of the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide.

As freelance French journalist Jean Eckian said in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, the Turkish press has published the results from October 16, 2006 discussion in the French parliament.

Earlier, Turkish media disseminated reports saying that the French National Assembly adopted the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial with 106 votes for and 19 against.

Mr. Eckian reiterated that the draft law envisaging a one-year prison sentence and 45,000 euro fine for denying the Armenian Genocide is due to go before the French parliament on December 22.
