Azeri Eurovision boycott report disclaimedDecember 24, 2011 - 16:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Following EuroVisionary’s publication suggesting Danish OGAE president Johann Sorensen urged for boycotting Azeri Eurovision over disrespect for human rights, the website was contacted by the OGAE president. As he noted, he was misinterpreted by media sources and never suggested the boycott. As EuroVisionary noted earlier, citizens in the Azeri capital are being forced out of their homes without a proper compensation in order to make space for new concert hall to be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in May. The website further quoted the newly elected president of OGAE Denmark, Johann Sorensen, as encouraging EBU to get involved in the situation and the broadcasters to boycott the contest if Baku fails to uphold international human rights. However, Johann Sorensen contacted the website with the following message: "The statements I have made are with strong reservations; of course I assume that Azerbaijan will keep the agreement they have made with EBU promoting press freedom and security". Also he made it clear that he never encouraged a boycott just as he never contacted Danish broadcaster, DR, EuroVisionary reported.
