  Heritage faction leader notes increase in Armenia’s regional importance  December 26, 2011 - 15:46 AMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage opposition party’s parliamentary group leader believes Armenia’s regional importance over the past year to have increased regardless, or rather, in spite of the authorities’ actions. At news conference in Yerevan, Stepan Safaryan cited Iran’s issue as well as Turkey-related foreign policy behind the increase of the country’s regional importance. Dwelling on Armenian-Turkish protocols, Safaryan reiterated the necessity for the official Yerevan to withdraw its signature. The politician also expressed skepticism over the possibility for Madrid Principles to help resolve Karabakh issue, believing the document to be able to spark a new conflict. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
