  Turkish FM: Turkey ready to confront its history December 27, 2011 - 18:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey is ready to confront its history in case of objective discussion of the issue, according to Turkish Foreign Minister. On December 26, Ahmet Davutoğlu urged historians to discuss Turkish-Armenian history in an intellectual environment with open archives. In this context he explained Turkey’s reaction to adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial by the draft law making Armenian, Turkish historians’ debate over Genocide issue impossible. Turkish Foreign Minister expressed hope for France to fulfill its mission in the framework of OSCE Minsk Group, contributing to restoration of peace in the South Caucasus. Davutoğlu further noted that Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement will also unblock normalization process between Turkey and Armenia, resulting in enduring peace, Today's Zaman reported. France-Turkey ties deteriorated after Dec. 22 adoption of the bill penalizing Armenian Genocide denial by the French National Assembly. The draft law envisages a year in jail and a fine of 45,000 euros for those who publicly deny the Armenian Genocide in France. Following the passage of the bill, Ankara recalled its ambassador from France.
