As human beings, and as women and mothers, we try to be supportive in efforts to reduce the suffering caused by some of these calamities. It was within this context that, together with the Dorcas Aid organization, we joined the ongoing endeavors to bring relief to the victims of famine in Sudan,” stated Vicky Marashlian, Chairperson of the Armenian Relief Society, Inc. “Unfortunately, it is beyond our means to extend a helping hand everywhere, and for that reason, we have to choose and try to be helpful in those instances where our input can really make a difference, as we join our efforts with those of other humanitarian organizations and NGOs, in order to achieve truly positive results and tangible relief in the lives of disaster victims,” stated Nayiri Shahinian, Vice Chairperson of ARS, Inc. “Dorcas Aid America truly appreciates the initiatives of the Armenian Relief Society and its global network of affiliates, to bring relief to the victims of famine in this region of Africa,” stated the Dorcas Aid America Executive Director, Tigran Youmoushakian, Along with the aid provided via Dorcas Aid America, ARS entities have extended a helping hand to the famine victims in Sudan via UNICEF, as well. It should also be noted that a few months ago, the ARS contributed over $23,000 to the relief efforts for the Tsunami victims in Japan. This sum was collected with the participation of worldwide ARS entities, their membership and supporters, Asbarez reported.
