Armenian expert doesn’t rule out Arab spring can reach Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan does not rule out that the Arab Spring can reach Azerbaijan due to Ilham Aliyev’s regime pressing any opposition force.

According to the Armenian expert, Azerbaijan has no strong opposition to oppose the country’s leadership.

“Azerbaijan’s opposition comprises only Islamists,” Melik-Shahnazaryan said, adding that rest of the forces displeased with Aliyev regime, prefer to keep silent.

The analyst further linked Azerbaijan’s such stance with Karabakh issue, with the country’s authorities trying to intensify the conflict to justify internal pressure.
