Cargo ship in Bosphorus crashes into two others

PanARMENIAN.Net - A cargo ship in Bosphorus crashed into two other ships docked near Zeytinburnu (a working class neighborhood on the European side of Istanbul) on Friday, Jan 20, as it was trying to drop anchor and appeared to be sinking, Today’s Zaman said.

The Kayan 1 vessel reportedly crashed into the Dutch-flagged Slochterdiep and Tanzania-flagged Adria Blu as it drifted due to strong winds while trying to drop anchor. The two docked ships are said to be slightly damaged in the crash and efforts are still under way to prevent Kayan 1 from sinking.
