New earthquake causes panic in Van

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today, January 20, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit Turkish province of Van.

It was not clear yet whether the quake inflicted any damage or injuries. The tremors caused panic among local people, the fear conditioned by the strong earthquake of the last year, according to Itar-Tass.

Strong earquakes shook Van on October 23 and November 9, 2011, flattening some 2,000 buildings, killing 644 people and leaving thousands homeless.
