Armenian parties put forward parliamentary hearings on electoral shift![]() January 26, 2012 - 16:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Prosperous Armenia coalition party jointly with Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun opposition parties requested Armenian National Assembly speaker Samvel Nikoyan and Chairman of NA standing committee on state and legal affairs David Harutyunyan to organize parliamentary hearings on full shift to proportional electoral system. In a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, secretary of Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group Aram Safaryan noted that the party has not determined its position on full electoral shift, adding that it will come up with its stance on the issue only after parliamentary hearings. According to Mr. Safaryan, Prosperous Armenia program, adopted in 2007, stipulates the party’s wish to shift to full proportional electoral system. On December 27, Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun opposition parties issued a joint statement urging for a full shift to proportional electoral system. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
