GEORGIA AND TURKEY ARRANGE MILITARY COOPERATION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Commander of land troops of Turkey Hitach Heidman has arrived in Georgia on a two-day visit. In the course of negotiations with Georgian defense minister David Tevzadze he will discuss issues of military-engineering cooperation. As reported by Russian media, the matter will specifically concern allocating new grants by the Turkish defense ministry for developing Georgian armed forces. Recently Turkey has granted Georgia a total of $25 million (a sum approximately equal to the defense expenses of Georgia in 2003), which were spent on repairing and equipping the infrastructure of the former Russian military base in Vaziani, modernization of the military airdrome in Marneuli, training military specialists. Besides, Turkey has passed Georgia a few coastguard cutters free of charge.
