Karabakh settlement discussed at Russian Foreign Ministry

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin met with Deputy Secretary General for the External Action Service (EAS) Helga Schmid.

The parties discussed Russian and EU ties with South Caucasian states, Ukraine, as well as settlement of Transnistria and Nagorno Karabakh conflicts, Russia’s MFA said.

In mid January, Russian FM Sergei Lavrov issued a statement stipulating Russia’s intention to continue mediating Karabakh settlement. A number of EU high-level officials, in turn, have recently expressed a wish to directly participate in the resolution process. The European Union currently is not directly involved in Armenia-Azerbaijan talks.
